5 Items Transport Canada Requires for Paddlers

Before you head out paddling for the first time, make sure you have all of the following items required by Transport Canada:

 

  1. Personal Floatation Device
  2. a buoyant heaving line of not less than 15 m in length
  3. a bailer; (b) a manual bilge pump; or (c) bilge-pumping arrangements
  4. (a) a sound-signalling appliance that meets the requirements of the Collision Regulations, or a sound-signalling device;
  5. (b) if the pleasure craft is operated after sunset or before sunrise or in periods of restricted visibility, navigation lights that meet the requirements of the Collision Regulations; and (c) a magnetic compass

 

 

Translated into Canadian English terms :)
  1. Lifejacket or Personal Floatation Device
  2. A Throw Bag with 15 m floating heaving line
  3. A Pump
  4. A Whistle
  5. Light and a Magnetic compass
